SNOW DAY! (March 2nd, 2009)

Changing Table Fun

Like mother, like daughter

GO HEELS!

Roberts Family

For the Superbowl, the Roberts family all got together for their first photo since having Owen, Ella, and Claire.

The day after, Sophie was laying out in our backyard soaking up some sun. (Her leg is bandaged because she cut her pad on our deck the day before the Superbowl party.)

Ella laughing

I came home from work one day and Ella was really tired, but she didn't want to go to sleep. Instead of fussing as usual, though, she was really happy and giggly, so we took this video of her laughing at us.

(For those wondering, "toaster oven time" is a term we used with my circle of friends in college - it was the time of day or night when you were so exhausted or tired that you were prone to laughing at everything - like the word toaster oven.)

Ella & Sophie

Here Steve was recording as Ella and Sophie were hanging out with one another. They are becoming good friends.

Ella petting sophie

Well, we know it's been a while since we last posted, but we have some great video clips for you! In this clip, Ella wanted to pet our dog, Sophie, so we tried to sit them both down to get it to work.

Our daughter is turning into quite the avid reader. Her favorite books are Fuzzy Yellow Ducklings, Peek-a-boo, I love you, and If you give a mouse a cookie. She particularly enjoys turning pages... at least half the way.

Our Little Tarheel

Ella's two favorite things to watch on TV are anything with muppets and college basketball. Like a good little Tarheel, Ella enjoys watching Dook lose to whomever they're playing. Here, Ella cheers as Georgetown makes a run during a recent game against Dook. Unfortunately, the Hoyas were not victorious.

SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!

We got another bout of snow and I got to stay home from school for Inauguration Day. Sophie sure had a lot of fun in the snow that day!

Ella's eye appointment

Today we had to take Ella to a pediatric optometrist for the lump above her left eye, which she has had now for about 2 months. The pediatrician had thought there were two possibilities: a clogged tear gland or a cyst. Well, today we learned the bad news... it IS a cyst. They will have to wait until Ella is at least 6 months old and then they will surgically remove it. Fortunately, these type of cysts are typically not cancerous and they will remove it in whole so that it will not have any chance to reform later. Of course, this is still a little scary for us, but, as the optometrist told us today, if this is the worst that ever happens to our little Ella, we should consider ourselves lucky. It is a simple outpatient procedure and should heal well (as it will be a cut on her eyebrow so the hair will grow in and the scar will not be noticeable later on). Our appointment will be on April 9, and she will have a follow up visit the following day (on Good Friday).

Christmas Photos

We drove 11.5 hours to Sarah's family's house in Pemberville, Ohio for Christmas and Ella was really great! I couldn't believe how well she traveled. The main thing that slowed us down was having to stop every 3 hours (or less) to feed her.
Here are some pictures of Grandma & Grandpa Lohrbach & Aunt Kate with Ella.

Christmas Photos - Visiting

Here are photos from visiting with Aunt Linda & Uncle Hal in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Finally, the moment you've all been waiting for...

Photos will be coming...

I have had many people asking to see new photos on our site. I assure you all that I plan to update this weekend.
As for me, I'm barely surviving. This was my first full week back at school and Ella's schedule has been thrown into chaos because our schedule has changed. Monday night she slept well, but Tuesday night I was up 3 times and Steve got up once for her. Wednesday night she fought off sleep until about 11:30. We hope tonight will be better.

Time with Papa and Grandma Roberts

On Wednesday, I had to go back to work at Orange High School so Ella now spends part of her day at Papa and Grandma Robert's house. I really miss her, but I know she's in good hands, and she seems to be having a lot of fun!
